The portrait, the figure, have occupied artists since the beginning of time. This exhibition, drawn from the museum’s collection, focuses on the many ways that American artists of the late 20th and early 21st centuries have explored the human form. The exhibit will include a variety of media—painting, prints, photography and sculpture—to discuss the various approaches and concerns around figurative work.
