Exhibition Opening: Mediteranea and Lalla Essaydi
Thursday, Sept 23, 2021
Join us for the openings of Mediterranea: American Art from the Graham D. Williford Collection and Lalla Essaydi.
Mediterranea explores at how artists of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries captured the diversity and distinctiveness of the Mediterranean region.
Artist Lalla Essaydi utilizes a complex process of painting, calligraphy, interior design, costume design, stage directing and photography to create art that challenges conventional representations of Arab women, formed in part by Western perceptions of Islamic culture. Featured will be a number of photographs from Essaydi’s various series from the last 15 years.
Masks required for all guests over 5, regardless of vaccination status.
