Analysis

Lilla Cabot Perry is second only to Mary Cassatt as a recognized woman Impressionist painter. She was acquainted with famed French Impressionist Claude Monet who was cordial to her and encouraged her to paint. Not surprisingly, A Stream Beneath Poplars is very reminiscent of Monet's paintings in his garden at Giverny.
